- Calculate and display expense splits within your group
- Send notifications about expense activity (if opted in)

Receipt Scanning & AI Processing
TripSplitter offers an optional receipt scanning feature that uses artificial intelligence to extract item details from receipt photos. When you use this feature:
- Your receipt image is sent to Anthropic's Claude Vision API for processing
- The AI extracts item names, quantities, and prices from the image
- Receipt images are processed in real-time and are not stored by Anthropic after processing
- We do not use your receipt data to train AI models
By using the receipt scanning feature, you consent to your receipt images being processed by Anthropic's API in accordance with Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
What We Do NOT Do
- We do NOT sell your personal information
- We do NOT share your email or contact information with third parties
- We do NOT track you across other websites
Data Retention
Active groups: Your expense data is retained for as long as the group remains active.
Archived groups: When a group is archived, data is retained for 1 year after the archive date. After this period, personal data may be automatically removed.
Data Deletion Requests
Group administrators can request that all personal information be deleted from their group. Upon receiving a deletion request:
- All personal data (names, emails, expense descriptions) will be scrubbed from the records
- The group structure will be retained in anonymized form for internal statistical purposes only
- Anonymized data cannot be traced back to any individual

Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.
Cookies
We use essential cookies to maintain your session and remember your preferences (such as which group member you are). We do not use tracking or advertising cookies.
